What is RetroStart?
RetroStart is an international Link Directory with 850+ links to Online Shops offering original Vintage Mid-Century Modern Design furniture and/or accessories.
Complementary there are links to websites concerning 20th Century Design, all on a global scale: Magazines, Auction Houses, Directories, Fairs, Blogs, Manufacturers & Designers. On top of that, there are four sections specially composed for RetroStart: Forum (post a request for an item or for information), a Search Engine to search within all the webshops listed on RetroStart, a calendar with updates of the Online Shops represented at RetroStart and last but not least: A Shop Locator function !
RetroStart is satisfying the need of both dealers and private customers. Where dealers wish to find new purchase / selling possibilities or info about the global Vintage Mid-Century Modern Design Furniture Business, customers wish to find an orderly overview of Online Retro Shops to find nice items for their home interior.
Who is RetroStart?
RetroStart.com is an initiative of two young Dutch entrepeneurs: Pieter Akkerman & Margriet van der Wiel. Being enthusiastic about the style and quality of Original Design Furniture of the 50-80's we started to discover the world of the Eames Era design classics. We visited Mid-Century Modern Design Fairs and started browsing on the internet looking for original pieces to fit in our modest living room. Along the way we noticed that many people can't find their way to vintage design (web) shops. Connecting this to the fact that over the years there has always been a great fascination for Retro Design, made us realize the absence of a Link Directory showing only second-hand 20th Century Design Shops worldwide.
We are glad to give all the nice Retro Shops that are around, the attention they deserve.
