Hi all,
We offer some metal shelving units from the 50's - 60's.
We know they are manufactured by a Dutch manufacturer called Tomado Holland. Shelves and stands are marked.
But we don't know the Designer of these units.
Some say they were designed by D. Dekker, other say it was Jan van der Togt.![]()

Can someone tell me the Designer of these units?
Best Regards from Holland,

That bookcase is amazingly similar to the Nils Strinning's String bookcase from 1949.
It's something of a Swedish design classic but I'm not sure how well known it is abroad.

Hi /D,
thanks for the response!
What an amazing picture!
The Strinning units where the first modulair shelving systems i believe (1949).
Are they always made of wood?
Tomado Holland started mass producing their metal units in the 1950's (After the 2nd World War, Tomado products became a status symbol for modern housekeeping).
The vintage units are now very populair.
Many dealers and ebay-sellers attribute the units to D. Dekker, but i cannot find any reference.
I have found some original images on the internet:![]()
